Area firms meet with Chinese investment delegation
The Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce collaborated with other state and local economic development organizations to host a Chinese investment delegation last month. The five Chinese firms in the delegation were interested in joint ventures and other forms of business investment in Michigan.
Three Genesee County firms took part in meetings with the delegation on April 9, 2008 at Saginaw Valley State University. Representatives of Genesee Packaging, Landaal Group and Trialon conducted face-to-face meetings with the international firms and discussed potential business partnerships.

"Trialon benefits from Regional Chamber efforts to bring Asian investors to the area," explains Steve Chargo, Trialon’s Corporate Controller. "We see great opportunity for our company to grow its customer base to include firms from China and other countries. We were pleased to have the opportunity to meet with the members of this Chinese business delegation and will pursue product testing and other opportunities with them in the future."
The Regional Chamber is collaborating in efforts such as these to promote Genesee County and identify new business development opportunities. "Often these opportunities come in the form of new sales or joint ventures for our existing companies," explains Janice Karcher, Regional Chamber Vice President for Economic Development and Strategic Planning.
Karcher points out that the Regional Chamber is also working with Asian firms interested in a physical location as well. Over the past months several site tours and business introductions have taken place to further highlight the strengths and assets of Genesee County.
